On the 7th August 2014, Julian Wilkins will speak at the Media and Message conference held at Naantali Spa, Finland. Media and Message is the largest event in Finland focusing on the audiovisual industry and its latest developments.
The annual event is nearly 20 years old, and is organized by Association of Independent Producers Finland – SATU ry. Media & Message gathers together more than 200 professionals who have an influence on the industry and its development. The event is attended by producers, distributors, TV-channels, advertisers and media companies amongst others. The event also hosts the annual award for the best new television format- Formaatti-Finlandia.
Julian will address the audience on the topic of -How to protect your IP rights and still get your project financed. He will review the current Intellectual Property law scene particularly in the context of protecting and exploiting format rights at an international level. Julian’s session will be moderated by Kati Royle; she is a writer, as well as script editor and script consultant for Finland’s MTV3.

About Julian Wilkins LLB (Hons) in law and M.Phil
Julian is a consultant solicitor to Devereaux Solicitors in London, and he practices in the areas of media and entertainment law as well Intellectual Property law and holds directorships and shareholdings in media production companies.
Julian was admitted as a solicitor in 1988 and is also a qualified Notary Public and trained commercial mediator. Julian has a LLB (Hons) in law and M.Phil in law as well as a Diploma in European Law.
He is a member of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law; Julian has a good working relationship with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and is a Board Director of Creative Barcode.
Julian has written for academic journals, as well as other publications. He is a keen and renowned script writer and often works in collaboration with established writers. Julian was a finalist in the 2011 Media Lunch Club 'Short Circuit" script competition.
